OUR CATTLE

Our organic herd is home to South Devon and Aberdeen Angus cattle: both hardy, native breeds well-suited to life on Salisbury Plain. They live outdoors year round, moving every couple of weeks in their role as living lawn mowers for the military training area.

Careful grazing planning means that our cows enjoy a wholesome diet of grass, wildflowers and homegrown hay year round. This not only benefits the cows, but also the local environment: our highly trained grass munchers nibble away at the more vigorous plants, allowing a wealth of chalk downland wildflowers to thrive through the summer months. Our cattle also graze areas of historic interest which, combined with our scrub clearing efforts, helps preserve the sites for years to come.
